AskTech charged me more than just $5 one time fee; $70 a month

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Visited a site thinking it was ESPN for ESPN Unlimited.
  • Was told it was a one-time $5 fee, but charged $70 monthly.

I went to [GEOGRAPHIC_DATA], thinking they were ESPN, about a streaming problem I had with ESPN Unlimited. They said it was just a one time fee of $5.

They lied. Now I'm being charged $70 a month and it doesn't help to cancel your credit card.

They will just grab a hold of your new card number and take the money from you anyway.

Now I have a total mess on my hands as I'm being charged $70 a month for a membership I didn't want. These are total scammers and AskTech needs to be shut down.

User's recommendation: Don't use Ask Tech. They will charge you $70 a month and you will have a hard time cancelling your unwanted membership.

Report of unauthorized charge of $66 CAD

AI Highlights
  • Unauthorized $66 debit charge from AskTech.support; reversal requested.
  • Asked for card details to charge $5 to join; user refused.

Visa Debit purchase - 2700

AskTech.support

-$66.00

Tnis is an unauthorized charge and I have asked them to reverse it as I did not use this service. When I asked them to reverse it, they then asked for my banking credit card info to charge me $5 to join and I refused.

I sent them an email stating that they used my credit debit info without my authorization and that they were to remove it and refund me. I read online that this company used this tactic on many people. Please remove this charge, I may have used them years ago but never joined them or gave them my info.so I do not consider my card compromised.

I use my card a lot and never had this issue. Do not adjust my card usage as I use it daily.

Resolved: Why was i charged 55 dollars plus the 5 i paid on top of that

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • I didn't authorize a $55 charge; it was refunded after cancellation.
  • They say $5 for the tech, then enroll you without knowledge.
Updated by user Jan 15, 2026

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. Takedown a Customer service agent got it token care of and got my full refund of 55 dollars back k.

Original review Dec 31, 2025

Well, I got through to them by being stern and standing my ground because I never authorized the $55 payment. They canceled my subscription I didn't subscribe to and are refunding me my $55.

That's why I don't like using these types of companies. They say $5 to get the tech, then subscribe you without your knowledge and take even more money.

I won't be using this service anymore. Do not use.

Cons:
  • Trap you without your knowledge

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Do not use them

They get you by acting like they are going to help you resolve a technical problem for $1.00 and the next thing you know they are charging you $55 claiming you agreed to a membership. When you try to cancel they charge $5.00 to do it...

but they never do. Instead they repeatedly hit your account for $48 every month. They are stealing money from people and getting away with it in America! I want all my money refunded and I will stop at nothing to get it!

If it's the last thing I ever do... I'm coming with a vengeance.

Scammed

AI Highlights
  • I was told I'd be charged $5 and refunded after a Sirius XM referral.
  • I was charged $70 and not refunded; the responder gave only another number.

I called because I was refered by Sirius xm radio.. i was told I would be charged $5 and that would be refunded.

I was charged $70 and it has not been refunded. I got nothing from the person answering except another phone number.

Its a scam. NowI have to cancel that credit card and get a new one, missing out on my 3% cash back for the next 10-14 days.

Don’t want people to be scammed unknowingly

AI Highlights
  • A bot Pearl helped with email issue.
  • A tech would call after I gave card info.
  • I refused a $5 fee and $55/mo plan; mostly negative reviews.

I was trying to resolve an e-mail issue with my server when a message above the website offered 24 hour free support. I pressed open and was greeted by a bot named Pearl who seemed interested in helping me.

We went back and forth for about 30 minutes while she gathered information about my devices and my attempts to solve the issue. She/He said a technician would call to help me resolve the problem as soon as I confirmed by producing my credit card info. I balked at this request for a $5 fee & enrollment in a membership costing $55 per month.

I decided to checkout the company first & saw mostly negative reviews. Glad I chose not to enroll since it appears that cancellations are not easy & many customers are owed refunds.

User's recommendation: Avoid this so called technical help

Resolved: Was billed a monthly subscription for a single question I asked

AI Highlights
  • Sept 2025: asked for a one-time question; got help.
  • Not told of a $48 monthly plan; expected $16 one-time charge; Dec canceled, Oct/Nov remained.

I called AskTech.support in September 2025 for a single question and received some assistance for this one-time question. I was not told that I would be entered into a monthly subscription of $48.00 when I only expected a one-time charge of about $16.00. When I called in December 2025 to complain and cancel this monthly charge, they only agreed to cancel my monthly charge and refund my December monthly charge but not the charges for October and November.
